Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday Episode 4
Welcome back my fellow Adventures! It is once again time for another episode of Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday! This week we will cover luggage weight. Now if you are driving to where ever you are traveling, then you won't have to worry too much about how much your suitcase weighs. However, if you are flying to your destination, or going on a cruise, or both then there will be restrictions on your luggage weight. I hope this tip will help.
Depending on which airline and cruise line you decide to travel with the restrictions might be different; however, from my research and personal experiences I have discovered the average weight limit for a suitcase is approximately 50lbs. These restrictions are placed so that those in charge of loading and unloading your suitcase can still be able to lift it. Now I know trying to figure out the weight of your suitcase can be a real hassle, but it doesn't have to be.
While out shopping for a cruise my mom and I discovered something that made checking the weight of our suitcases rather easy. We discovered a portable luggage scale. All we had to do once our suitcases were packed was hook the handle to the scale and then use the scale to lift the suitcase off the floor. It was literally that simple to use. Just place the handle of your suitcase on the hook of the scale and then lift the suitcase off the ground using the scale. Then look at the scale while the suitcase is up in the air to get the weight reading.
Both my mom and I were able to make sure our suitcases were under the 50lbs limit and able to board the cruise ship with no problem. I highly recommend getting one of those portable suitcase scales. They are sold online and at most retail stores that also sell luggage. The price varies between approximately $10-$20 depending on brand and where you buy it. Completely worth it though. Hope this helps you out.
Until next time!
