Tuesday Travel Tips and Tricks Episode 5

Image
Welcome back fellow Adventurers to another fun filled episode of Tuesday Travel Tips and Tricks. Today we will covering why you should consider bringing a spare pair of shoes when going to the beach. I know it sounds strange to bring a spare pair of shoes to the beach, but it does come in handy.     My mom and I learned this trick one summer during a trip to Ship Island. On this trip we only brought one pair each of shoes. When we were heading back to the ferry to go home, we did stop to rinse off at the shower areas. We rinsed off our shoes, that were covered in sand, very thoroughly. However, sand doesn't always come off so easily. By the time we made it back to the car, on the mainland, both of us had blisters from left over sand in our shoes.     The next trip to Ship Island we took a spare pair of shoes each along with gallon zip lock bags. When it came time to leave the island we rinsed everything just like last time; however, this time we ...

Camera Trouble

Image
Welcome back fellow Adventurers to my first ever post on my Mom's blog. Sadly, I wasn't able to photobomb any pictures this week. She did try to teach me how to take selfies with her camera. It was a lot harder than I thought. It's a small camera, but I still need work on my paw/camera coordination. I kept hitting the button at the wrong time and the camera kept slipping. Guess I'll have to keep practicing.     Let me know what you think.     Spirit

Ross and Bealls

Image
Welcome Back fellow Adventures! It is once again time to visit someplace in my hometown of good old South Mississippi. Since the weather here is finally warming up enough to consider other clothes besides a sweater and jeans, I thought I would cover my favorite stores to buy sundresses! I will be covering 2 stores today. Both are fairly similar in items they sell, but they are the type of stores where you never know what you'll find. I am referring to Ross Dress For Less and Bealls and Home Centric.       They both have a wide selection of clothes, suitcases, decor, and other unique stuff. I personally have found several cute sundresses at both stores, several journals, even a really nice suitcase and backpack among other items. Some days I will go in an not find a single thing. Then other days I can go into either one or both stores and find a whole treasure trove of goodies. Both stores have fairly decent prices too.       Both Ro...

Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday Episode 4

Welcome back my fellow Adventures! It is once again time for another episode of Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday! This week we will cover luggage weight. Now if you are driving to where ever you are traveling, then you won't have to worry too much about how much your suitcase weighs. However, if you are flying to your destination, or going on a cruise, or both then there will be restrictions on your luggage weight. I hope this tip will help.     Depending on which airline and cruise line you decide to travel with the restrictions might be different; however, from my research and personal experiences I have discovered the average weight limit for a suitcase is approximately 50lbs. These restrictions are placed so that those in charge of loading and unloading your suitcase can still be able to lift it. Now I know trying to figure out the weight of your suitcase can be a real hassle, but it doesn't have to be.     While out shopping for a cruise my mo...

Ship Island Excursions Finally Open for The Season!

Image
Welcome back my fellow Adventures! I hope you enjoyed the latest episode of Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday. I know all of you are wondering where we are going this week. Well, this is more like an announcement, because I personally won't be going till its warmer. However, for those that want to go to a really great beach in this cooler weather the Ship Island Excursions Ferry is opening back up for the season! Starting tomorrow, Friday, March 21, the ferry will start taking people back to Ship Island.     Tickets start at $44 for adults. They do offer different prices for seniors, kids, and military as well. The ferry ride takes about an hour to get to the Island. Get to the port early to get a good seat. They do offer concession stands on the boat and on the island, to be sure to bring extra money with you because it does cost extra. Prices for food, drinks, snacks, lounger and umbrella rentals, and souvenirs really isn't that bad.      Th...

Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday Episode 3

Welcome back my fellow Adventurers for another episode of Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday! This time we are coving footwear placement. I know it sounds a bit strange but be patient with me. This is something my mom and I learned on a cruise we took a few years ago. We still use this trick even at our local pool now.      If you are from the South you know how hot it can get in the late spring to late summer. For those not from the South, the temperature can get up into the 90’s and low 100’s quite easily. When you go on a cruise or travel farther south the heat can get worse. We already know that at those temperatures any sort of pavement, concrete, brick, metal, etc. is going to be extremely hot and if you walk barefoot it would burn your feet and leave blisters. However, what about when you are at the pool, on a private boat, or a cruise ship? I’ve noticed that a lot of people prefer to go barefoot around the pool, or on a private boat, or on a cruise...

Outback Steakhouse

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome back to Sarah’s Travel Adventures. Today we are covering Outback Steakhouse on Sangani Blvd in D’Iberville, MS. It is across the parking lot from Samurai Japanese Cuisine, which we covered in our last Thursday feature. This is my mom’s number 1# place to get a steak. Mine is somewhere else, but Outback comes at a close second. My mom and I normally get a 6oz sirloin. My mom pairing it with a salad and baked potato. I normally pair mine with fries and either potato soup or creamy onion soup. Both soups are delicious and I highly recommend both of them. However during this most recent trip to Outback Steakhouse I was feeling a little adventurous to try something new. I noticed they had added a new pasta to the menu. It’s called King Steak and Shrimp Pasta. Let’s just say Olive Garden Italian Restaurant has competition. The King Steak and Shrimp Pasta at Outback Steakhouse is absolutely amazing! Some of the best pasta I’ve ever had. The shrimp has a kick of spice to i...

Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday Episode 2

Image
Hi everyone! Welcome to another exciting episode of Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday! Today we are reviewing some special shirts my mom and I discovered by complete accident. They are called Magellan Outdoor Fish Gear Shirts. Although my mom and I just call them Magellan Swim Shirts. They are made out of a lightweight swimsuit material, and is infused with UPF 50.      These shirts come in a variety of colors and patterns. My favorite being the ones that look like waves or underwater patterns. My mom prefers the floral patters. These shirts are perfect for outdoor activities. However just because the shirts are infused with UPF 50 you will still need to put on sunscreen. You won’t have to put on as much though. Applying sunscreen once where the shirt covers and then apply sunscreen as needed to the areas the shirt doesn’t cover should do the trick.      The Magellan Shirts are also equipped with cooling technology. This helps to keep you c...

Samurai Japanese Cuisine, Sushi Grill, and Bar

Image
Hi everyone, today we are taking a trip to Samurai Japanese Restaurant. It is a small restaurant located on Sangani Blvd, across the stree from the Wal-Mart Supercenter in D'Iberville, MS. The atmosphere of the restaurant, though small, is very quiet and relaxing with relaxing music playing quietly in the background.     Once seated your server brings out hot towel to clean your hands, which is a great touch. Especially in the winter when even just 2 minutes outside and your fingers will be ice cold. Then once you're ready the server will take your order. My mom and I only waited about 5 minutes and the server brought out our soups, salad, and spring rolls. They were served hot and delicious  😋. Then about 5 minutes later our food arrived. Nice, hot, and delicious 😋. I had the chicken and steak hibachi meal and my mom had the chicken hibachi.      This restaurant does not have the show where the hibachi chef ...

Travel Tips and Tricks Tuesday!

Image
Hi everyone! It is time for our first episode of Travel Tips and Tricks. These episodes will be posted every Tuesday from now on. My hope is that these tips and tricks will help you like they have helped me when traveling. In this episode I am covering attractions/excursions that require you to wear a helmet; such as, zip-lining or bike riding.      Chances are you won’t have your own personal helmet from home and the staff will provide you one that has been worn by a lot of other people. The staff most likely sanitizes the helmets after every use, but there are still risks and smells. Especially if, like me, you have sensitive skin.      Thankfully, a good friend of mine told me of a trick to add a bit of protection. My friend is a Diamond member with Carnival Cruise Lines. For those that don’t know what a Diamond Member is, it is a statues you earn after completing 200 or more cruise days. So as you can see my friend i...

Woody’s Roadside Bar and Grill

Image
One of the restaurants where my family likes to eat is Woody’s Roadside Bar and Grill located on Highway 605/ Lorraine Rd. I’ve been to this restaurant multiple times and not once have I ever had bad service. All the employees are super nice and upbeat, and the food is amazing. My mom normally gets the chicken strips and fries while I get the pulled pork sandwich, fries, and sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries, in my opinion, are absolutely addictive. 😋 I normally can’t finish all of mine, but that is ok because I take it home for leftovers to put in my lunch box for the next time I work at my part-time job.     I highly recommend eating here if you have the chance. The atmosphere is fun, the staff and food is amazing. It is a little loud in the restaurant so if you are looking for some place a little quieter, then this may not be for you. For the guys that want to watch the game while they eat, there are plenty of TVs. Some are in the dining area and more ...
